Second is a local Baptist church with a 150 year old rich history and a dedication to serving the community. As with other Baptist ministries, we offer you the opportunity to strengthen your relationship with God through worship, Bible Study and growing in the word of God. We are a church ministry with a desire to faithfully preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we invite you to worship with us and allow us to help you get closer to Our Creator. At Second Baptist our doors are open to anyone who is need of support and spiritual guidance. We offer a weekly Sunday School, Bible Study and a Sunday church service along with various ministries that serve the local community, including a weekly Feeding the Hungry Program.
We have been blessed to have as our Pastor for the past 38 years Rev. Dr. Samuel Gibbs, Jr. He and his wife, Sis. Lillian B. Gibbs have faithfully guided this congregation for more than 38 years.
Mission of Our Baptist Church
The mission of our church ministry is to fulfill the Great Commission as recorded in Matthew 28:18-22¬—“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” We teach believers how to live in unity of the faith, and partake of God’s awesome promise by walking in holiness and obedience to His Word.
